State Flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan
The law “On the National Flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan” was adopted on November 18, 1991 at the eighth session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The symbolism of the State Flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan continues the best traditions peculiar to the flags of the mighty powers that existed on the territory of our country, at the same time reflecting the natural features of the republic, the national and cultural identity of the people.
The sky blue color on the flag is a symbol of blue sky and clear water. Azure color is revered in the East, the great Amir Temur chose him once for his flag. White color is a symbol of peace and purity. A young independent state must overcome high passes on its way. The white color on the flag means good wishes for the path to be clear and bright. Green color is the personification of a fertile nature. Nowadays, the environmental protection movement is expanding all over the world, the symbol of which is also a green color. The red stripes are life forces pulsing in every living being, a symbol of life.
Crescent corresponds to the centuries-old tradition of the people of Uzbekistan. The crescent moon and the stars are the symbol of the cloudless sky of the world. There are 12 stars on our flag. The number 12 is considered a sign of excellence.
